IP port banners may reveal useful data

IP port banners may reveal useful data. In addition to the information that it is possible to connect to that port, it is possible to find out what software and which versions are running on that system.

Such information can be useful to correlate this information with vulnerabilities which are available for that version of software.

I am just providing information here, please ONLY do it against the systems that you own. Retrieving such information from systems that you don’t own may be considered a hacking attempt and may be punishable by law.
