Smart cars are the cars that rely on sensors to drive automatically. Cars with some level of automation can adjust speed while being in cruise control. Such cars can keep the lane, while driving on the freeway, they can stop being on cruise control, if the cars ahead stop.

Probably the most famous car now days is tesla for the level of automation that goes in those cars.
