Replacing a wireless card in a laptop

It is possible to replace wireless card in a laptop. A laptop may have couple of wires connected to the wireless card. These wires are very fragile and extra care needs to be provided to handle these.

Wireless cards are usually secured with a screw, so you will need a tool to unscrew and screw the new one. A new wireless card may not be recognized by your operating system, in this case it is needed to install wireless drivers that came with that card,

Please be aware that new drivers may be available from that card manufacturer, and it may be needed to install new version of the drivers. That Wi-Fi card may be operational even with the old driver, but the driver may include new functionality or bug fixes.
