Major parts of a computer system
A system unit contains all the internal parts of a computer. Size of a system unit may vary on number of devices you want to install there and aesthetics of your place.
Other things that are connected to system unit are called peripherals.
One the device that is connected to a system unit is a monitor. There are different types of monitors. There could be an old type CRT monitor. These are bulky, and I don't know if you can even buy one now days, but you may be able find in the office. There could be flat monitors, there are called LCD or LED displays.
Input devices include a keyboard and a computer mouse. There may be more than a single type of a computer keyboard and a mouse.
Audio output is provided by speakers. A very simple setup of speakers will include just two speakers. Speakers are optional devices. You may find speakers used in a home computer, but an office computer will probably exclude these. Next step up is to add a subwoofer to play low sounds. Next step up is to make surround sound by adding central speaker and rear ones. Your soundcard needs to support surround sound. A typical soundcard has output for left and right speakers only.
To print output a printer is needed. Printers can be of a different type too. Printers can be dot matrix printers, where little hammers print things. These are noisy, and I don't know if they are sold anymore.
Printers can be ink jet, where ink is used for printing. Ink jet printers are affordable, however ink does not last a long time. Even so a printer itself is not expensive, you will be tired to go to a computer or office supply store to get new ink jet paint for the printer.
Next step up is a laser printer. Laser printers can print in black color only, or these can print in color. If they print in black only, then only black toner cartridge is needed. If they print in color, then multiple cartridges are needed for different colors. Print quality of a laser printer is better than ink jet printers, however expect to pay more for a laser printer.
To scan a document a scanner needs to be used. If this is high-end laser printer it may already come with a scanner, or you may get a standalone scanner. Scanners vary in quality of how well they can scan documents, but typically all standalone scanners are good for home use, if you are working with graphics you may need to invest in a high quality scanner.
