Threats

Threats can divided onto two categories: internal and external threats. Internal threats are more dangerous because a person that is inside of the network already has access to network and computing resources. A person that is outside the network, may have better skills or may have access to additional software tools, but the access to that person is limited. Hardware / software tools such as firewalls limit that person's actions. Often network computers that are inside of the network have private IP addresses and access to these computers is limited. Such a person has access to public information only, such as public web sites.

In order to gain inside access such a person needs to use extra effort.
