Linux offers more control for hacking

Even so it is possible to use Windows operating system for hacking, however Linux offers more customization. Much of the hacking activities are non-standard, therefore they require a lot of customization.

BSD systems are also customizable, however available of tools for BSD systems make them bad candidates for hacking activities.
