What is Internet?
What is the Internet?
The Internet is a global network of computers, these computers are connected to each other. Even in the one building computers may be connected to each other, but the Internet is a global network. Computers in the United States of America can access information that is stored in computers in Japan. These computers reside in different geographic locations, but they are interconnected.
Billions of computers worldwide are connected to the Internet. Some of the computers on the Internet are servers. They contain information. For example when you read news, that information is located on the servers.
Some computers are clients. For example you are watching this video from a computer that is likely a client on the Internet. If you are watching this video from a server, then it is a bad thing. Server need not be used as a browser on the Internet.
There is also the Internet of things, or shortly it is called IoT. IoT devices serve a specific function, for example these could be smart thermostats, which receive information about the weather outside and could save you some money. These could be cameras that publish videos on the Internet.
Precursor for the Internet was Darpanet, it was developed in 1960s as a way to communicate for computers in defense networks.
