Protocol
Protocol reminds us of a judicial system. Protocol is a set of rules that need to be followed. Just imagine if a sign states that a maximum speed is 60 miles per hour, but a driver drives with a speed of 100. Bad things may happen. At least that person may receive a ticket from police for high speed, because that person is breaking the law.
Same things exist in computer world. There are a few protocols out there. SMTPis one of the protocols, HTML is one, Wi-Fi is another protocol, and so on. These protocols need to be followed in order to send messages, display information from web sites or to connect a computer to a wireless network.
